Ligtas Mayon ("the App") is a volcano safety monitoring application developed for residents
and visitors in the Albay region of the Philippines. This Privacy Policy explains how we
collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.
2. Information We Collect
Location Data
The App requests access to your device's GPS location to:
Show your current position on the map
Calculate your distance from Mayon Volcano's Permanent Danger Zone
Find nearby evacuation centers
Provide routing directions to evacuation centers
Location data is processed locally on your device only and is never
transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
Ligtas Mayon does not collect, store, or share:
Personal information (name, email, phone number)
Account credentials
Device identifiers
Usage analytics or crash reports
Any data that can personally identify you
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services to provide its features:
OpenStreetMap / Overpass API — Fetches evacuation center data. No personal data is sent.
OSRM (Open Source Routing Machine) — Calculates routes. Your coordinates are used to generate a route but are not stored.
Nominatim — Processes location search queries. Queries are not stored.
PHIVOLCS API — Fetches Mayon Volcano alert level data. No personal data is sent.
Google Maps SDK (Android) — Renders the map on your device. Google's Privacy Policy applies.
5. Data Storage
The App stores the following data locally on your device only:
Last known volcano alert level (cache)
Last known evacuation center list (cache)
Offline map tiles (if downloaded)
Your language preference
Offline mode preference
This data never leaves your device and can be cleared by uninstalling the App.
6. Permissions
The App requests the following device permission:
Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) — Required to show your position on the
map and find nearby evacuation centers. You can deny this permission and still use the App
with manual location search.
7. Children's Privacy
Ligtas Mayon is a public safety app intended for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any
personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an
updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes
acceptance of the updated policy.
